Com um pé em cada canoa...

As I have been working on researching Brazil from Canada (this image of standing in the middle of the river with one foot in each canoe) since the beginning of this dissertation, I have had to learn to see this unstable position as both a problem and a solution. That is why I continue this chapter by reviewing several authors who have already examined this site of instability in research and can help me identify a starting point. Concepts such as liminality (Turner, 1982) and the third place (Bhabha, 2004) are essential for reflecting on this fluid position.
